John 17: 13 – 26 But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. (14) I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. (15) I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. (16) They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. (17) Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. (Amp. C – John 17:17 – Sanctify them [purify, consecrate, separate them for Yourself, make them holy] by the Truth; Your Word is Truth.)
(18) As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. (Luke 4: 18 – 19; Mark 16: 15 – 18) (19) And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth. (20) “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; (21) that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. (22) And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: (23) I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. (24) “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. (25) O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me. (26) And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.” (NKJV)
Note: Jesus did not pray for the lost to be saved in this His last prayer before the cross. He prayed that the We would be one that the world may know.
Then after the Cross and His Resurrection He commanded the Church to go into all the World. He expected us to go into the World as one so that the world may know. He commanded us to love one another as He loved them and he expects us to be one.
John 13: 34 – 35 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. (35) By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (NKJV)
This is a commandment not a suggestion.
This is how all men will know. He expects the world to see Jesus in the Church which is His Body the fulness of Him in the Earth.
Ephesians 1: 22 – 23 And He has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the church], (23) Which is His body, the fullness of Him Who fills all in all [for in that body lives the full measure of Him Who makes everything complete, and Who fills everything everywhere with Himself]. (Amp. C)
Ephesians 2: 20 – 22 You are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus Himself the chief Cornerstone. (21) In Him the whole structure is joined (bound, welded) together harmoniously, and it continues to rise (grow, increase) into a holy temple in the Lord [a sanctuary dedicated, consecrated, and sacred to the presence of the Lord]. (22) In Him [and in fellowship with one another] you yourselves also are being built up [into this structure] with the rest, to form a fixed abode (dwelling place) of God in (by, through) the Spirit. (Amp. C)
